The Associated General Contractors of Missouri presented SFIA member T.J. Wies Contracting, a commercial wall and ceiling contractor specializing in metal stud framing, with the 2023 Specialty Contractor of the Year award. The announcement was made on November 2 at the Construction Awards Gala at the River City Casino Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.
Construction Awards Gala
Each November, the AGC of Missouri hosts the Construction Awards Gala. The gala features two programs — the Construction Keystone Awards and the Specialty Contractor of the Year Awards.
The winners of the Specialty Contractor of the Year Awards are selected by AGC’s General Contractor members via secret ballot. Awards are given in 12 disciplines:

The specialty contractor with the most votes in a specific discipline is awarded the first place Specialty Contractor of the Year award for that discipline. In addition, the contractor with the most votes overall is named the AGC of Missouri Specialty Contractor of the Year.
T.J. Wies Contracting received the award for the discipline category, “Internal & External Finishes, Openings & Fixtures.” The company also obtained the most overall votes by the general contractors to receive the Specialty Contractor of the Year award.
T.J. Wies Prefabricates Bathroom PODs for Hospital
T.J. Wies Contracting prefabricated and installed 294 modular bathroom PODs for the $550 million SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, reducing costs while increasing speed to occupancy for the project.
