BuildSteel is tracking the sustainability initiatives of Steel Framing Industry Association (SFIA) members and their partners. Here is some recent sustainability news related to the cold-formed steel (CFS) framing industry.
Builders Recognized for Sustainable Steel-Framed Homes
J Kramer Corp and Escobedo Group, both home builders specializing in cold-formed steel (CFS) framing, were recognized by Architectural Digest for their exceptional commitment to sustainable home building. The builders were selected based on their effective use of sustainable materials, waste reduction strategies and implementation of energy-efficient systems.
Texas-based Escobedo Group cold-rolls its own CFS framing, made of 75% recycled material, to reduce waste and ensure the production of high-quality, sustainable building components. At their 60,000 square-foot Austin facility, the integration of stone, millwork and metal fabrication under one roof enhances efficiency and craftsmanship. Central to their innovative approach is the DARIO Panelized System, which employs insulated steel panels for precise, waste-reduced wall production in a controlled environment, enabling homes to be erected in days with superior quality compared to conventional methods.
