While the cold-formed steel (CFS) industry framing stands at the forefront of construction innovation, it faces an evolving regulatory framework for building design and construction, as traditional construction methodologies give way to more advanced systems.
In an upcoming episode for Public Television, Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid will explore these issues under the title, “Evaluating Building Products for Safety & Peace of Mind.”
The Viewpoint episode will feature educational content provided by ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), a provider of code evaluation services, and Scottsdale Construction Systems, a global roll-forming technology provider and member of the Steel Framing Industry Association (SFIA).
Scottsdale has obtained product evaluation reports through ICC-ES for many international markets. The SFIA holds the ICC-ES Evaluation Report, ESR-4205, ensuring compliance for CFS C-studs and track products with the 2021, 2018 and 2015 International Building Codes, the 2019 California Building Code and the 2020 Florida Building Code.

Construction Regulation, Code Approvals and More
Specifically, the Viewpoint program will address construction regulation, building code approvals and industry innovation.
Viewpoint’s creative team interviewed Dominic Sims, CEO of the International Code Council, David Tompos, executive vice president of ICC CAG, Anna Mullen, vice president of marketing at ICC-ES, and J.R. Ubejd Mujagic, chief revenue officer at Scottsdale.
“The episode dives into the importance of code compliance and modern building codes, especially for innovative building products and new technology, and how it affects everyone in the supply chain,” Mullen says.
Airtimes to Begin September 9
According to ViewpointProject.com, Viewpoint episodes typically run as short-form segments between three to six minutes in length. The program’s creative team produces educational segments for Public Television, high-end commercials and airtime for them on cable news networks and email campaigns to inform viewers about upcoming segments.
The public television segment of the Viewpoint episode featuring ICC-ES, Scottsdale and the topics of construction regulation and industry innovation will be distributed starting September 9, 2024 under the title “Evaluating Building Products for Safety & Peace of Mind.” The segment is expected to reach over 170+ participating public television stations throughout the U.S. The exact dates and times of the airings are at the discretion of the network programmers and affiliate stations.
ICC-ES is also featured in a commercial segment that is being broadcast on FOX Business, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC and the Discovery Channel.
