The CFSEI webinar explores structural floor systems for cold-formed steel (CFS) construction, including their design, performance, installation requirements, advantages and limitations.

Webinar Details

The CFSEI-sponsored webinar will provide a comprehensive review of structural floor systems available for cold-formed steel (CFS) construction, including:

  • 2- and 3-inch deck
  • Dovetail deck
  • Deep deck
  • Cold-formed steel trusses
  • C-joists
  • Joists with service openings
  • Steel Joist Institute joist and deck systems
  • Composite joists
  • Precast plank

Each system will be examined using 3D renderings and section details, with discussion of design attributes, load capacities, span ranges for various applications, deflection criteria, vibration performance, installation requirements, and fire ratings.

The webinar will also explore the advantages and limitations of each system to better understand how to select and specify appropriate floor systems for different project conditions.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify and differentiate the primary structural floor systems available for CFS construction and their appropriate applications
  • Evaluate floor system performance using load capacities, span ranges, deflection criteria, and vibration requirements
  • Assess fire ratings and installation requirements that influence the safety and performance of structural floor systems
  • Compare the advantages and limitations of different floor systems to select appropriate solutions based on structural, performance, and project requirements

Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute

The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) comprises hundreds of structural engineers and other design professionals. Together, they are finding a better way to produce safe and efficient cold-formed steel (CFS) designs for commercial and residential structures. CFSEI members develop industry standards and design methods. CFSEI issues technical bulletins, organizes seminars and provides online training so that engineers and design professionals can improve their knowledge and skills. CFSEI is part of the Steel Framing Industry Association (SFIA) family. For more information, visit www.cfsei.org.
