Description

This course will educate the AEC team on the advantages of utilizing cold-formed steel (CFS) framing in the construction of mid-rise structures.

It discusses reasons for using CFS framing in the structural framing of buildings, the preferred method of construction to frame buildings, as well as the advantages realized by the members of the Owner/Architect/Contractor team.

Learning objectives

  1. Introduce CFS framing and explore the benefits of using it on mid-rise construction projects
  2. Analyze the two methods of construction based on ASTM C1007: Panelized Construction and Stick Built Construction
  3. View various floor systems supported by CFS framing
  4. Determine the true cost of building with wood vs. steel
  5. Review the advantages of CFS to the Owner/Architect/Contractor team

Matt started in the cold-formed steel (CFS) framing industry in 2002 as a residential specialist, which evolved into developing business in the Mid-Rise CFS market. He continued to grow the use of CFS framing through territory management and technical support. Matt is currently one of 5 technical sales managers for SFIA member ClarkDietrich, operating in the Midwest region, specializing in new product development and support, fire rated systems, mid-rise solutions and overall technical solutions to contractors and the design community at large.
